Dirty kit can cause fungal infections of the skin in hot and sweaty areas - groin (crotch rot), feet (athlete's foot) and elsewhere. Good practice for you as the athlete is to always have a spare clean kit. Prow-Row are currently developing fleece insoles for rowing shoes to help reduce the effects of  athletes foot.

Pro-Row seat pads allow continuous  air flow through the fibres helping to protect the contact pressure points with the rowing/sculling/ergo seat!

Sharing water bottles can spread illness and possibly infectious diseases and you should avoid sharing water bottles. It is advisable to always have your own clean water bottle, preferably with a protective top, keeping the top clean at all times!

Weills Disease is caused by the urine of rats and can be transmitted by contact with contaminated water through cuts, blisters, abrasions or mucous membranes.

Weills Disease can first appear as 'flu like' symptoms appearing to have no obvious cause, but you should always inform your doctor that you row.

Preventing injury & ill health as well as maintaining good health is a must for all athletes if the athletes are to reduce the occurrence of diseases and disabilities in sport.
